Seven Sigma participated in the Business Discovery Workshop in the field "AGRIFOOD-FOOD INDUSTRY 4.0" of the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3) of Western Greece 2021-2027.

The event, which took place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Central Amphitheater of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), focused on the prospects and challenges of the agri-food sector in Western Greece.

Mr. Kostas Kokkinoplitis, CEO of Seven Sigma P.C., took the podium as rapporteur, presenting the "Importance of  the Agri-Food sector  for the economy in Western Greece - Challenges and Opportunities".

Our speech focused on the vital contribution of the agri-food sector to the economy of Western Greece, highlighting challenges faced by the sector, such as lack of digital maturity, the ageing of the rural population and climate change. At the same time, Mr. Kokkinoplitis presented the opportunities opening for the sector, with significant emphasis on the potential of artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of the agri-food sector.

The workshop aimed to highlight the medium-term development goals of the agri-food sector and to formulate relevant actions and policies at both regional and national level. It was an important step towards the development of a productive dialogue between stakeholders of the agri-food sector in Western Greece.

During the workshop, the following were presented and discussed:

  • Ideas and proposals to enhance collaboration and innovation in the sector.
  • Implementation, legal and human resources training issues.
  • Funding opportunities for the following sectors:
    • Food Safety – New Processing Technologies
    • Agricultural Development – Precision Agriculture
    • Innovation in Livestock – Beekeeping

Seven Sigma, with its active participation in the Conference "Agri-food-Food Industry 4.0", confirmed once again its commitment to supporting growth and innovation in our country and seen in the vital agri-food sector.
